Child Dental Benefits Scheme 2014

The Federal Government has announced that the newly formed Child Dental Benefits Schedule will commence throughout Australia on the 1st January 2014 replacing the current Medicare Teen Dental Plan.

More than 3.4 million children are set to benefit from the new Child Dental Benefits Schedule which will assist families with $1000 worth of general dental treatment per child over a 2 year period.

Eligible families are set to receive confirmation in early 2014 as to their eligibility. However the Australian Government has confirmed that children between the ages of 2 and 17 years from families who receive Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or certain other government payments will be entitled to the benefit.

To ensure all eligible families receive confirmation in early 2014, The Australian Government has advised that families should ensure their details are current with the following agencies as soon as possible.

Medicare – Phone 132 011
 Centrelink (for FTB-A) – Phone 136 150
Department of Veterans’ Affairs – Phone 133 254

The Government also encourages FTB-A lump sum recipients to submit lump sum claims promptly to ensure they will receive Child Dental Benefits Schedule benefits,
